Greenhouse FAQ

Our systems do very well in the wind. The Auto Blackout Systems are held down by a series of batten ropes, which hold it snugly against the greenhouse wall, while still allowing it to operate properly. For added support in high snow and wind areas, check out our Extreme Trussing Kit.

Our Clear Plastics are rated for 3-5 years of use. Our Black on White Plastics are rated for 2 years. Sun intensity and weather can factor into the lifespan of your plastic

The Blackout System is equipped with a control panel which uses a set of timers to raise and lower the Blackout Plastic over the sides of the Greenhouse. The panel controls a series of motors that actuate the Blackout System.

Yes we can design the greenhouse of your dreams! Call or email one of our designers today.

The structures are easy to assemble. You don't need an extensive background in construction, just the right tools!

A drill, a hex drill bit, set of drill bits, crescent wrench, hacksaw or Sawzall, string, level, hammer, screw driver.

The assembly time varies depending on many factors such as building experience, site preparation, number of people, ability to focus. The average time for a 52' greenhouse is 2-3 days with 2 people. For large structures, we recommend 3 people and up to a week for assembly. This does not include site prep time.

If you live in the Northern California region installation may be available through one of our subcontractors depending on the time of year and exact location that you want your structure. Contact us to discuss the options.

Baseboards and anchoring are not included. We recommend using 2' x 6' pressure-treated wood anchored with concrete stakes.

Yes, the Auto Blackout System will operate in the rain. Snow, however, is a different story. Never operate your Auto Blackout System when it's snowing, this can cause the plastic to warp.

We recommend adding supplemental lighting inside the Greenhouse so you can continue production all winter long. With the Auto Blackout Kit you can easily close the Blackout System to block excessive light from your Greenhouse. Easily batten down the roll up side walls with additional pieces of wiggle wire to create a fully sealed environment.

If you live in an area that gets more than 5†of snow in a storm we recommend you remove your covers, or if you need to leave the covers on all winter we recommend our Extreme Support Trussing Kit and keeping the snow off the top of the structure as much as possible. (NOTE: The Auto Blackout System does not operate in the snow.)

Yes, we recommend using our hang lighting and ventilation from the inside of the structure, we do however recommend our Support Trussing Kit or our Extreme Trussing Support Kit if you are planning to hang a lot of irrigation, ballasts, hanging planters, speakers, etc.
